My name is Ivan Ernesto Reyes. I was born in Maracay, Venezuela. I started photography in 2010 with an analog camera that I bought when I entered university. From that moment it was love at first sight. With time and effort, I managed to buy a digital camera and began to document critical moments of the Venezuelan situation in its streets from 2012 onwards.
Although I dedicate myself to photography, I also write and I consider that it is extremely important to know how to mix both skills in order to better tell stories and have a greater reach. I like being close to people, listening to what they have to say, and seeing how they live, what they eat, what they think, what they long for, and what they miss. What makes them human?
I am currently (2023) in Venezuela, but have worked on the Colombian border, as well as the US-Mexico border. Reach out if you want to work together, if you have any comments or questions about my work, or just to connect and get to know each other.
